A Historical Examination of Library Work in the Shanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region During the Comprehensive Anti-Japanese War

AbstractLibraries are an important symbol of the levelof cultural development of acountry，an important place to nourishthe national soul and cultivate cultural confidence.After theestablishment of the Shanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region Government，the Border Region successivelysetup various kinds of libraries andformulated relevant systems to ensurethenormaloperationof the work of the libraries inthe Border Region.During thisperiod，the main contents of the work oftheborderlibrariesincluded：bookcollection，clasificationandcataloging，circulationmanagement，intellgence information，readerservices andother five aspects，withadistinctive mass，revolutionary，pragmatic，and promote the overallvictoryinthewarofresistanceagainst Japan，mobilized the masses toparticipate intheanti-Japanesewar，and laid thefoundationof the librarywork innewChina.However，affectedbythelong-termmilitaryencirclement，invasion and economic blockade bythe Japanese invaders and Kuomintang reactionaries and other objective factors，the work of libraries intheborder areas alsohas certaindeficiencies.Therefore，anin-depth examinationof librarywork during this period an notonly depen the studyoflibrary history inthe Shanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region，but also provide a referenceforlibraryworkinthenewera.
