The Value Enhancement Strategy and Evaluation System Construction of Donated Books in Resource Construction of College Libraries

AbstractBook donation isa mixed issue forcollege libraries.It is crucial for collge libraries to know whether they need to continue to accept book donations，and whether there are ways to determine which booksare worthy of being added to thecollection，to measure the valueof the collction of these donated books，and their contribution to resource building.This paper investigates the status quoofbook donation in foreign colege libraries through empirical investigation method，selects typical cases，analyzesand discusses several aspects ofdonationrulesandcollection standards，treatment of donated books，and evaluation of the value of donated books，and summarizes the valueenhancementstrategyofdonated booksintheresource constructionofcollege libraries inourcountry;and introduces the most widely used methodof evaluation by libraries in foreigncountries，which is called“overall evaluation method”， fromthe use of donated books，colection resource construction consistency，the preciousnessof donated books and the costof donated book processing four dimensions to developthe evaluation system construction，to provideaunified framework for the development of China's book donation work reference.
