Abstract:Ivestigatingthegneticofpenultimateleavesinicetoprovideatheoreticalbasisforbredingimprovedriceplantch tecture,this study conducted a quantitative genetic analysis using an F2 population derived from a cross between Jingyuan 89 and Wuyoudao4riceultivars.Fivefunctionaltraitsofthepenultimateleaveswereanalyzedforcorelations,andtheirheritabilitywas calculatedbasedonamajorgene-polygenemixedinheritancemodel.Theresultsshowedthatleafareaofthepenultimateleffitted Model A_4,with amajor gene heritabilityof 34.43% .Leaftipangle,penultimate leaf length,and leaf-stemangle followed Model B_1,exhibiting major gene heritabilities of 17.58% , 88.41% ,and 16.83% ,respectively.Penultimate leaf width aligned with Model B_6,showing a major gene heritability of 26.80% .Inconclusion,the length of theleaf can serve asa key trait with stable inheritance inriceplant-typebreeding,whileteleaftipgleandleaf-stemanglerequreselectioninconjunctionwithnvironmentalltio. These findings provide critical insights for optimizing rice plant architecture breeding strategies.
