Abstract:Toaddress theissueof limitedaplicationof hexagonal boron nitrideduetothelowcontentofactive groups onthe surface,smalsizedhydroxylatedhexagonalboronnitridewaspreparedbyusingtwomethods:ballmillingandhightemperature heating.Themodified hexagonalboron nitride wascharacterized by infrared spectroscopy,Raman spectroscopy, scaningelectronmicroscope,thermogravimetricanalyzer,X-raydifractometer,X-rayphotoelectronspectrometer,thermal conductivity meterand contactangle meter toanalyze itsstructure,crystal properties,morphology,thermal stability, elementalcomposition,thermalconductivityandhydrophilicity/hydrophobicity.Theresultsindicatethatballmiling effectivelyreduces particle sizeandsurfaceroughness ofhexagonal boron nitride,andalsoimproves its thermalconductivity andhydrophobicity,but ithasno efectonits structureandcrystal properties.Conversely,thehigh-temperatureheating method notonlyreduces particle sizeandachieves hydroxylationbutalso significantlylowers surfaceroughness,decreasing the root mean square roughness of hexagonal boron nitride from 1.56nm to 0.27nm . However,this method compromises thermal stability,resultingin a 21.14% weight loss(mass fraction) for hydroxylated hexagonal boron nitride at 800∘C .In addition,high-temperaturetreatmentnotonlyreducesthethermalconductivityofhexagonalboronnitride,butalsoenablesthe transformationof hexagonal boronnitridefrom hydrophobictohydrophilicmaterials.Anewmethod forthepreparationof smallsizedhydroxylatedhexagonalboronnitridebyballmilingandheattreatmentisputforward,providingreferencefor expanding the application of modified hexagonal boron nitride materials in other fields.
