Abstract：The decoupling between economic development and urban construction land expansion is the key to high-quality development.To study the decoupling relationship between economic development and urban construction land expansion in Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle，an analysis was conducted based on the Tapio decoupling model using data from 2012 to 2021 for the economic circle and its sub regions，as well as various cities.The results show that the overall economic development of ChengduChongqing economic circle is weakly decoupled from the expansion of urban construction land;the decoupling situation varies significantly among diferent regions，and the cities with the best decoupling status are concentrated in Chengdu Plain economic zone and Chongqing metropolitan area;the relationship between economic development of each city and expansion of urban construction land changes unstably， mainly showing three status ：weak decoupling，negative decoupling of growth and growth linkage，without showing obvious strong decoupling trend.What’s more，zoning control and improving the intensity and efficiency of unit land use are the main measures to promote the decoupling between economic development and urban construction land expansion in Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.
