[Abstract]ObjectiveTo assessthe effectiveness of the comparison between pit and fissure sealantsand fluoride varnishes,as wellasvarious types ofsealantsin preventingcariesontheoccusalsurfaceofchildren’sfirstpermanentmolars (FPM).MethodsConduct acomprehensive search ofliteraturepublished between January1,1988,and May30, 2024,inthe following databases: China National Knowledge Infrastructure,WebofScience,CochraneLibrary,Embase, PubMed,China SciencePeriodical Database and China Biology Medicine database.Meta-analysis and subgroup analyses were performedonthe literature that metthe inclusioncriteria.ResultsAtotalof5618pieces ofliterature wereretrieved,resultingintheinclusionof14inthestudy.Meta-analysisshowedthattherewasnostatisticallsignificantdifferencein the efficacybetweenvaries pit and fissure sealants compared to fluoride varnishes,and between varies types

ofsealantsin preventing caries on the occlusal surface of children’sfirstpermanentmolarswithin24monthspostsurgery (P>0.05) .Conclusion Within24months,there wasno significantdifference in the effectiveness ofusing

resin-basedorglassiomomer pitand fissure sealants compared withfluoride varnishes in preventing occlusalcaries in FPMinchildren;within24 months,there was no significant difference intheefectivenessofusingresin-based sealants compared with ARTsealants in preventing occlusalcaries inFPM inchildren.ARTsealants are recommended over resinbased sealers for children who have no conditions for chair-side manipulation or who are poorly co-operative.
