Abstract:Thenorthwest(NW)-trendingfaultsintheXihuDepresioncanbecategorizedintothre types:deepandlargefaults dominatedbyjoints,structuraltransformationfaultswithweakregulationand tension-inducedfracturesasociatedwithanticlinal cores.Thisstudyinvestigatesthereservoir-controlingoleofweaklyregulatedNW-trendingfaultsinstructuraltransforation zones.TheresultsdemonstratethatthedeeplayersoftheQ2structurearejointlycontroledbyNE-andNW-trendingfaults, whereastheshallowlayersareprimarilyinfluencedbyNW-trendingfaults.TheNE-trendingfaultsexhibithighdensityandmultiple phasesofactivity.Furthermore,thedevelopmentofupper-layerNW-trendingfaults(F2)iscloselycorelatedwithlower-layer faults(F1).Weaklyregulatedfaultsfmedarlybutexperiencdlimitedlate-stagereactivation,inderingtheformationofshalow resurfacing faults.HydrocarbonmigrationintheQ2structureoccurspredominantlyalongverticalpathways,withNE-trendingfaults servingastheprimaryconduits.Incontrast,NW-trendingfaultsplayacriticalroleintrapdevelopmentandexhibitstrongsealing capacity,therebycontrolinglocalizedhydrocarbonacumulation.WeaklyregulatedNW-trendingfaultsareommonlydeveloped withinthetranstionzneofthecentralanticlinebelt.Themid-to-deplowamplitudeanticlinesifluencdbythesefultsrepesent apromising target for future hydrocarbon explorationin the Xihu Depression.
