Effects of nitrification inhibitor Nitrapyrin on maturity, N2O emission and nitrogen loss during pig manure composting

Abstract:Toinvestigate the comprehensive efectsofnitrificationinhibitorNitrapyrin[2-chloro- ⋅6- (trichloromethyl)pyridine]on compostmaturity,NOemissionandnitrogenlos,thisstudyusedpigmanureandcostrawasawmaterials.Andbasedonthtotal nitrogen(TN)contentoftheintialmixedawmaterials,twoaditionmethodswereset:addingNitrapyrinonlyattheinitialstageof composting( 0.25% ),andaddingNitrapyrinincombinationat the initial stage( 0.25% )and maturation stage( 0.75% ).The results showed thattheadditionofitrapinouldotafecteprocessofompostdecompositionndteseedgnationidexvalueoftfinal compost product reached 81.02 % -101.38%.Theaddition ofNitrapyrin significantly reducedNOandNH emissions,andonlyadditionof Nitrapyrin at the beginning of composting reduced NH -3 emissions by 14.90% and N2O emissions by 16.27% . The combined addition of Nitrapyrin at the early stage and the maturation stage further increased the N2O emisson reduction rate to 27.43% .Finally,theadditionof NitrapyrinreducedtheTlossby1.63-8.68percentagepointsandincreasedthnitrogencontentofthecompostproduct(thenogen contentinNitrapinasngligible).CorelationanalysissowdthatN-Ncontnt,tmperatreandpHweesignificantlgaiely correlatedwith N2O emission rate,and NO3--N content also contributed significantly to N2O production.Therefore,Nitrapyrin mainly increase the NH4-N content and pH value and reduce the NO3-Ncontent by inhibiting nitrification,thereby reducing N2O emissions.
