The Dietary and Health Value of Hazelnuts from the Perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Modern Nutritional Science

Abstract:Hazelnuts havebeen traditionally regarded asa superiorfood ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine, with documented benefits such as nourishing thespleen and stomach,improving vision and mobility,moistening the lungs and relieving cough, nourishing yin and tonifying blood, and enhancing energy and strength. Modern nutritional science has also confirmed that specific components in hazelnuts contributeto immune system enhancement,regulation of blood lipidsand blood pressure, and preventionof tumors.This article systematically summarized thetraditional Chinese medicinerecords on the dietarytherapeutic effects ofhazelnuts,compared and integrated traditional Chinese medicine with modern scientific research, explored the dietary and nourishing value of hazelnuts, in order to provide new perspectives on the dietary nourishment provided by hazelnuts.
