Abstract:Inmilitaryoperations,industrialaidentsandother explosiveevents,head injuriescausedbyblastshockwaves have becomeoneof themain injury forms of injury,butthe injury mechanismanddamage thresholdhavenotbeenclarified yet.Inthis paper,numericalsimulationisused tostudythedynamicresponseproessoftheheadunderexplosionload,andthe efects of TNT charge,airand water media on the deformation,pressure and aceleration of the cranium and brainare analyzed.First,theair-eadfluid-structure interactionmodelisestablishedusingEuler-Lagrangiancouplingmethod.Basedon thevalidationofitseectiveness,tedynamicesponseprocessoftheeadwasanalyedintsofpressure,accelerationand frequencyof the prefrontal cranium and brain tisse.Byseting theinitial conditions andboundaryconditions,the ffectsof frontalandthebehindshockloadingsoftheblast waveonthehead weresimulated.Ithasbeenfoundthattheheadtissue vibratesat high frequencies,up to 7kHz ,whenthe blast wave strikesthe head directly.The acceleration on the prefrontal craniumandbraintissuehadalarge value initiallyandbecomesmallinthelatestage,whilethe intracranial pressurevaried in a cyclical manner.In the underwater environment, tere were high-frequency periodic overpressre fluctuations inthe brain tissues of frontal,parietal and temporal lobes,in which peak overpressure of 3.64MPa can be generated in the prefrontal cranium,which is well above the threshold of 235kPa for severe brain injury. In water, brain tissue is subjected to 5 times the peak pressure,a5foldincreaseinaccelerationanda2fold increaseinfrequencycomparedtothose inair.Theresultsof this research provide a new perspective for understanding the mechanism of damage to the human brain caused by blast shock waves,and an reference for the development of future protective measures.
