Abstract:Traumatic braininjury(TBI)istheneurological disorderwiththehighest incidenceand prevalence,and posesa hugepublic health burden forthewholesociety.Anin-depth studyofthe biomechanicsofTBIcan help toimprove the efectivenessofhead protection,developrapid assessment techniques andtaketimely interventions,thusreducing therisk of injurydeterioration.Asanumericalanalysistool,thefiniteelementhead model (FEHM) isabletosimulate thedynamic responseoftheheadduringimpact,includingthespatialandtemporaldistributionofstress-straininbraintisses,andthe change of intracranial pressure, which provides an important basis forunderstanding the mechanical mechanism of TBIThis paper summarizesin detail the currnt status and development ofmainstream finite element modelsofte human headat home andabroad,tracesthedevelopmentofthemodels,summarisesthecharacteristicsofthemodelsandintroducestheresearch progress of TBI mechanisms based on finite element models.The summaryand sorting outof related research willbe helpful forthedevelopmentofnewFEHMsand providetheoreticalguidanceand technicalsupport fortheriskasessmentoftraumatic brain injury and the design of protective equipment.
