The Influencing Factors of the Seismic Performance of End-plate Connections inSteel Structure

【Abstract】:To thorough investigate the seismic performance ofend-plate connections and their influencing factors,nine sets of finiteelement models were established and validated against experimental results.The study examined the effects of parameters induding axial compresson ratio,column web thickness,beam flange thickness, and end-plate thickness on the seismic performance of end-plate connections.The results indicated that endplate connections possess excellent seismic performance,with both ductility coefficient and energy dissipation coefficient meting the speafied requirements.Increasing the column web thickness was dentified as the most effective way to enhance theseismic performance of the connections,significantly enhancing their stifness, ultimate bearing capacity,and energy dissipation ability.Appropriately increasing the thicknesses of the beam flange and the end plate also improved theseismic performance.However,an increase in the axial compression ratio resulted areduction in ductility;therefore,it is essential to control theaxialcompression ratio below specified limits during design.
