Investigation of the Clinical Use of Polymyxin B Sulphate and Evaluation of its Safety

Abstract： ObjectiveTo analyze theclinical utilization and safety of polycolistinB sulfate in orderto provide references for rational drug use.MethodsA retrospective study was carried out to gather case data（general information，etiological examination，drug regimen，adversereactions，etc.）of119inpatientswhogot polymyxins B sulfate anti-infective treatment inour hospital from 2019 to 2O22.TheclinicalapplicationofpolymyxinsB sulfate was followed upand investigated，and the rationalityof medication was evaluated and analyzed using the rationality evaluation criteria.ResultsBefore polycolistin B sulfate was used，the microbial detection rate was 92.44% ，and the top three pathogens were Baumannium acidosis （31.89%） ，Klebsiella pneumoniae （19.64%） and Pseudomonas aeruginosa （17.35%） . Critical care departments accounted for the majority ofclinical application departments （56.30%） ）， followed by hematology departments（ 15.13% ）and organ transplant centers 14.29% ）. These departments were primarily used to treat bloodstream infections（ 15.75%） ，abdominal infections （17.12%） ，and pulmonary infections caused by multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacteria （63.01%） ）.The reasons for the irrational clinical application of polycolistin B sulfate mainly include inappropriate indications，unreasonable dose and improper treatment course. There were 10 cases of adverse reactions during polymyxin B administration， mainly manifested as creatinine， elevation，hypersensitivity，and neurotoxicity.ConclusionThe rationalityof the clinical applicationof polycolistin

B needs to be further improved and standardized.To make clinical medication more logical and safe for patients，drug indications should be tightlyregulated，medication monitoring should be improved，andadverse responses should be closely monitored.
