Abstract:Ports and wharves have a key role in national security. Losses would be catastrophic once they are threatened by intentional or accidental blast.Therefore,it is necessary to analyze the damage characteristics of wharf structures under the blast loads to provide reference forthe protective design of wharf structures.This paper provides a methodology to generate the random stone based caisson wharf model based on MATLAB program,and uses the numerical simulation to analyze the damage effect of gravity caisson wharf under underwater blast loads.The modeling accuracy of the numerical simulation is verified by comparison with the field test data.The damage characteristics and shock wave propagation laws of sand filled caisson wharf and stone filled caisson wharf are obtained by using the verified numerical model.It is found that the damage degree of rock filled caisson wharf is greater than that of sand filled caisson wharf,which means the simplified sand filling model used in previous experiments was inaccurate and could not represent the actual damage situation.It is recommended to use the stone filing dock model for research. Under the impactload of explosion,deformation of the blasting faceof the external wall of the stone fill wharf is small due to the large rigidity of rock fill.Deformation of the sand fill wharf is large due to the smallrigidity of the sand fill,which has certain flow plasticity.The propagation velocity of shock wave in the chamber of stone filled caisson wharf is faster than that of sand filled caisson wharf,but the attenuation degree of shock wave in the chamber of stone filled caisson wharf is greater.
