Abstract: Objective To explore experience continuous irrigation and drainage in treatment spontaneous intraspinal and extraspinal abscesses.MethodsThe clinical data 14 patients with spontaneous intraspinal and extraspinal abscesses admitted to General from July 2018 to September 2O23 were analyzed retrospectively. All patients were confirmed to have intraspinal and extraspinal abscesses by MRI plain scan + enhanced scan).Emergency or time-limited continuous irigation and drainage intraspinal and extraspinal abscesses was performed under microscope with hemilaminectomy. Pathological specimens, pus culture or DNA testing were sent for confirmation abscesses. Continuous irigation and drainage after operation were maintained, while systemic antibiotics were used individualy. After treatment, patient was discharged stably and followed up regularly.ResultsAll patients continued to have irrigation and drainage for 1 to 6 weeks after operation. Regarding use antibiotics,7 cases used third-generation cephalosporins, 4 cases used vancomycin or linezolid, and 3 cases did not use antibiotics. After dynamic re-examination imaging improved and laboratory test indicators returned to normal, drainage tubes were gradually removed and systemic antibiotics were discontinued.During postoperative follow-up,except for 1 case with insignificant improvement, symptoms remaining 13 cases improved significantly. ConclusionsThe treatment spontaneous intraspinal and extraspinal abscesses advocates early minimally invasive surgery with continuous irigation and drainage. The use systemic antibiotics
shouldbeindividualized.
