ibstract :Objective In order to reveal the mechanism of squeezed branch piles in foundation pit support systems

Methods A 1:15 scaled model test was designed based on similarity theory. Layered excavation under cantilever pile support was conducted to analyze the efects of branch depth on pile-top displacement,bending moment and ground setlement.Results Compared to straight piles,the squeezed branch piles reduced horizontal displacement by 19.2% ,peak bending moment by 36.6% and settlement by 29.2% . Optimal performance occurred when branches were near the pit botom.Conclusion The buried depth of squeezed branch significantly influences support efficacy,and the rational depth selection enhances pit stability.
