Abstract:Obiective As a fundamental component of compliant displacement mechanisms,flexible hinges are widely applied in micro-displacement applications.It isessential to develop novel flexible hinges and analyze their micro-displacement characteristics.Methods A biaxial cosine-shaped flexible hinge was proposed.Based on the theory of material mechanics,analytical formulas for rotational compliance and tensile stiffess were derived. Finite element analysis (FEA)validated these formulas,showing maximum errorsbetween numerical and analytical solutions within 10% . Structural parametereffects were systematically investigated.Results Minimum thickness,cuttingdepthand cutting width exhibited distinctcorrelations with rotationalcomplianceand tensilestiffness.Sensitivity analysis revealed that minimum thickness had the most significant impact,followed by the cutting width,while cuting depth showed the least influence.Conclusion Compared to ellptical hinges,the cosine design demonstrates superior rotational ability and load sensitivity.
