Experimental Study on Dynamic Splitting Tensile Behavior of Simulated Lunar Soil under Impact Loading

Abstract:Objective To investigate the dynamic response of alkali-activated lunar soil under impact loads.Methods Dynamic splitting tensile tests were conducted by using a split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB)on specimens cured at different temperatures.Theeffects of impact load on tensile strength,energy disspation and failure patterns were analyzed.Results Crushing energy consumption and density showed an exponential growth with the increase of impact load.The damage dissipation energy reflected internal microfracture development. Conclusion The damage disipation energy inside the simulated lunar soil increases with increasing impact air pressure.Damage dissipation energy peaks during spliting failure.Specimens fracture centrally into two halves under all impact loads Dynamic tensile strength increases linearly with impact load and logarithmicallywith energy density.
