Abstract：Afterthe lawful seat ofthe People’s Republic of China inthe United Nations was restored in 1971，the International Monetary Fund（IMF），unlike most international organizations，delayed resolving the issue of Chinese representation，citing unique legal and financial complexities.This was due to U.S.political operations.However，the callfor implementation of UN Resolution 2758 in the International Monetary Fund and the positive responseto China’s demand limited the interference by the United States.Not only did a significant number of member states view China’s claims favorably butthe IMF’s management and key functional departments also proactively prepared to reestablish ties with China.This study argues that China’sreform and opening upand its constructiveinteractions withthe internationalcommunitywere the fundamental driving force behind China’sreintegration into the International Monetary Fund.
