Clinical significance of ST-T abnormalities in electrocardiogram of patients with heat strokeZHANG Yujuan (Department of Electrocardiogram,Yancheng No.1 People's Hospital, Yancheng Jiangsu 2240Oo,China)
[Abstract]ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical significance of electrocardiogram (ECG)ST-T changes in patients with heat stroke.MethodsA retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical dataof 59 patients with heat stroke. These patients were divided into an abnormal ST-T group ( ρn=40 ) and a normal ST-T group ( n=19 ) based on whether ST-T was abnormal. Statistical analysis was performedon the clinical data and laboratory indicators of the two groups.ResultsThe patients in the abnormal ST-T group demonstrated significantly advanced age, higher blood glucose, lactate dehydrogenase, cardiac troponin I(cTn I),prothrombin time(PT), international normalized ratio (INR),proportion of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome and body temperature,as well as aspartate aminotransferase, creatine kinase and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide(NT-proBNP) levels compared to the normal ST-T group (all P<0.01 ). The levels of Ca2+ and antithrombin III(AT-II)in the abnormal ST-T group were both significantly lower than those in the normal ST-T group (both P<0.05 ) . Logistic regression analysis showed that age,PT,and INR were independent influencing factors for ST-T abnormalities in patients with heat stroke. ConclusionAbnormal ST-Tchanges in ECGs of patients with heat stroke could serve as an important early warning indicator of severe illnessand poor prognosis.Early identification of such ECG abnormalities helps to guide clinical intervention, and reduce the risk of multiple organ failure of patients.
