Treatment of Diabetes-Related Dry Eye from the Perspective of Collateral Theory

Abstract：Diabetes-related dry eye is a common ocular surface complication in clinical practice，characterized by highlycomplex pathogenesis，recurrencecondition，and dificulty inachieving a complete cure，which negatively impacts patients’physical and mental health.This article integrates modern medicalunderstanding and approachesof diabetes-relateddryeyefromthe perspectiveofcolateral theory.It proposes thatthe primarypathogenesisofdiabetesrelated dryeye may involvecollateral deficiency with malnutrition，collteral damage with toxinaccumulation，and colateral stagnation.Therapeutic principles may focus onunblockingand tonifying to nourish collterals，removing toxins torestore colaterals，andactivitingqi and blood circulation tounblock collterals，with nourishing yinand unblocking collaterals being consistently applied throughout the treatment.
