[Abstract]Rootcanal therapyistheprimarytreatmentforendodonticandperiapicaldiseases.ThoroughrootcanaldisinfectionisoneoftheimportantstepsforsuccsfulrotcanaltherapyAtpresent，thepreferredrotcanaldisinfectionmethodis stillchmicaldisinfectionwithsodiumhypochloriteastheflushsolution.However，onventionalrotcanalchemicaldsinfec tionhas someshortcomings，suchaspoordrug penetrationordrugresistance.Inrecentyears，Diode laser，Nd：YAGlaser，Er： YAG laser，Er，Cr：YSGG laser，etc.canexertantibacterialefect intheanatomicalcomplexrootcanal systemanddeepdentinaltubules，andpromotethehealingofendodonticandperiapicallesionsbecauseoftheiradvantagesofremovingsmearlayer， sealingdentinaltubulesandlateralbranchofrotcanal.Thisarticlewillreviewtheprogressoflaserdisinfectionininfected root canals.
