A Case Analysis of Differential Diagnosis and Treatment of Bulimia Syndrome in the Red Panda

Abstract:Through clinical symptom observation，blood routineand biochemical tests，and fecal parasitological examination，acase of suspected bulimia inared panda（Ailurus fulgens）wasinvestigatedandretrospectively analyzedusing dialecticaltreatment.In mid-May 2024,a red panda exhibited clinical symptoms such as iritability, marked anorexia,and progressive emaciation.The blood routine and biochemical tests showed thatthe blood glucose (GLU）and urea (UREA）were significantly higher than the normal reference values.Based on the comprehensive analysis ofvarious tests，it wasconcluded thatthepatient had bulimia nervosa.Traditional Chinese medicine treatment was adopted，and the syndrome was diagnosed as excessive heart fireand stomach fire,insufcient kidney yin，and disharmony between heartand kidney.Theprescription selected was modified Huanglian Ejiao Jizi Decoction，whichclearedtheheartfireandnourishedthekidneyyin.Afterabout2Odaysoftreatment，theredpanda showed normal feedingand activity，and itsbody condition gradually recovered.
