Risk assessment of heavy metals in farmland soils around a copper mining area in Anhui Province,China

Abstract:Abstract:Toelucidateinvestigatetheinfluenceofmineralresourceexploitationonheavymetalenrichmentinsuoundng farmlandils,tisdigatedoetsdsaiarbiofaealsCdb,uCndiinl (0-20cm)offarmlandsoilsaroundthecopper mining area in Anhui Province.Thelevelsofheavymetals wereevaluatedbyusingsingle factorinexemerotegatedpoltioidex,oacculatiidex,ndotetialologicaliskidexurcenalysf byusingAbsolutePrincipal Component Sore-MultipleLinearRegresion(APCS-MLR)modelResultsshowed thatthestudyarea predominantlyexhibitedacidicsoil,withCd,Pb,Zn,Cu,Cr,ndNicontentsaveraging0.14-2.74,3.5-52.9,6.61-09.78,1.47 431.95,1.16-18.42, and ,respectively. Approximately 96.53% of the tested soil samples exceeded Cd risk screening value and 22.28% exceeded theCuscreeningvalueof SoilEnvironmental QualityRisk Control Standard forSoilContaminationof AgriculturalLand(GB15618—2018).Cdwasidentifiedasslightormediumpolltedbasedonsinglefactorpolutionandgeoaccumulationindices,hileteNemerowindexindicatedoverallmedumpolltiondominatedbyCdandCu.otentialoloicalisk ssessmentshowedthatCdwasthemainecologicalriskfactorinthestudyarea,exhibitingamoderateeologicalrisklevel.APC-MR modelsourceanalysisindicatedthatsoilCdweremanlyfrommiing,CusourcesmainlyderivedfrominingndindustrialaciviisZn andPbweremailyroidstrysousandwhileCandNiwereprimarilyfomingsours.Ioncusio,dustrliii the copper mining area maylead to the risk of Cd pollution in the surrounding farmland.
