Effects of different types of microplastics on physiologyand metabolism of Scutellaria baicalensis

Abstract:ToalethectsoficroplastisoeowthfSuteiaalesisplants,ataditioalCnesemedd toxicologicalresposs.Tectsofdngcropstisofstreemcropstiss)lyeteecopstss) and polypropylene microplastics(PP-MPs)with a concentration of 500mg⋅L-1 anda particle size of about 10μm on the growth and antioxidanenzymeatitiesofS.bicalensisplantswereexaminedinnutrientsoutionculturesandthetoxicefectsoftheierent microplasticsonteS.bicalensisplantsrefurthrinvestigatedTetoicfectsoffrenttypsofmicroplasticsonS.bicalesis plants were further investigated.The results showed that the efect of PE-MPs on the growth of s .baicalensis was relatively small, while the efectsofPS-MPsndPP-swere moresigniant.Intersofphotosytheticpigmentcontent,PS-MPsldtoasignificantdeceaseAttheantioxidanctiiyveldreaetsatlycdileamtd themetaboliclevel,PS-MPsandPP-Msmicroplasticshdsignficantefects,ainlyafetingthepataysofgalactoseabolism, glycine,serine,ndthreonnemetabolism,whereasPE-MPsmainlyfectedsugametabolismndTCAcyle.Inaddition,P-shad the most significant effect on baicalein and baicalein in S .baicalensisroots,and relatively little effectonbaicaleinand baicalin.The results indicate that the impacts of various types of microplastics on the growth and metabolism of S .baicalensis difer,withPS-MPsand PP-MPs primarilyinfluencigthegrowthofS.baicalensisplants,hilePE-MsexertarelativelyminorfectPE-MPspredominantlyacthe sugar metabolism and the TCA cycle in S .baicalensisplants,while PS-MPs and PP-MPs predominantly affect the TCA cycle,galactose metabolism,asllsaboofind.ddioalleneteofajoosi S. baicalensis plants.
