Effects of intercropping on soybean roots and nutrient uptake under different microplastic concentrations

Abstract:Inordertoexploretheefectsofintercroppngonrootmorphologicalcharacteriticsandnutrientuptakeofsoybeanunder diferentonctratiosofcroastisndthisofieropingtlviatetoxictsfcropstis,issud four concentrations of microplastics ( 0% , 0.1% , 1% , 10% )and two planting paterns(soybean monoculture and maize-soybean intercropping)weresetupbypotexperiment.Afer3Odaysand6Odaysofsowing,thegrowth indexes,rotcharacteristics,utrient accumulationandabsorptionandsoilphysicalandchemicalpropertiesofsoybeanweremeasuredandanalyzed.Comparedwithno microplastics,roplasticexposuresificantlyinreasdthoalotlngthofsobean,utdecreasedteaverageotiae rootactityandeducdtemulativeuptakeoftrogn,phosphorusndpotassiumadtotaliomassofsbeanopdih soybean monocropping atthesame microplasticconcentration,intercropping significantlyincreasedthetotalrotlength 23.2% , total root surface area 39.8% and root activity 49.2% ofsoybean,and increased the cumulative uptake of nitrogen 35.6 % ,phosphorus 29.5% and potassium 32.0% of soybean.Redundancyandcorelationanalysisshowedthattotalrootlength,rootactivity,nitratenitrogen,available phosphorusandavailablepotassiumwerethemainfactorsafectingsoybeangrowthandnutrientuptake.Intercroppingcanaeviate the inhibitoryefectofmicroplasticsonsoybeangrowthandnutrientuptakebyimprovingsoybeanottraitsandsoilnutrientavailability Moreover,theiibitionofopgrowthanddevelopentbyintercoppingrgulatioofmicroplsticsshoda“tieect",ttis,te mitigation effect of intercropping increased with the extension of crop growth period.
