Effect of Austenitizing Temperature and Holding Time on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Hot-Dip Galvanized Layers in B1500HS Plates

Abstract:Thisstudy investigates themicrostructural evolution lawsof hot-dipgalvanized(GI)layerson industrially produced B15oMPa-grade steel plates during austenitization,aswellastheir influence on mechanical properties,through SEM + EDS analysis combined with uniaxial tensile tests under heating conditions ranging from 88 °C to 93 ℃ and holding times between min to min:The GI coating primarily consists of Γ -phase ( Fe3Zn10 and α -Zn (Fe)-phase; with increasing holding time from min to min,the proportion of Γ -phase decreases progressively until it is completely replaced by a single α -Zn(Fe)-phase at longer durations; Prolonged exposure at higher temperatures leads tooxidation membranecoverageon thesurface layer,whereMnelementsaccumulatepreferentiallywithin the outermostoxide layer; Uniaxial tensiletestresults indicate that whileultimate tensile strengthvariesminimalyacross diffrent austenitization parameters,optimal comprehensive mechanical performance characterized bya yield strength o (204号 =1 566MPa and total elongation A=6.5% is achieved when heated at 900°C for exactly 3 minutes.These findings demonstrate that judiciousselectionof austenitizationparameterscan effectively balance corrosionresistance with mechanical processability in GI-coated steels.
