Lightweight Design and Application Research of Aluminum-PlasticSteelHybridInstrumentPanel Crossbeam

Abstract:To enhance the driving range ofnew energy vehicles,alightweight designstudyof the dashboard crosbeam is conducted.Takingacertain pure electric vehicle model astheresearch object,2aluminum-plastic-steel hybrid crossbeam designsare proposed.Acost comparison isconducted,and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) simulationsareperformed toevaluatetheirstifness,strength,andmodalperformance.Theresultsdemonstratesthat bothschemessatisfythe performancerequirements (the displacementamplitude atthecenter point of the steering wheel under vertical static stiffness condition ⩽2.4 mm,the displacement amplitude at the center point of the steering wheel under horizontal static stiffness condition ⩽1.5mm ,thedisplacement amplitude of the dashboard crossbeam understatic load condition ⩽1.5 mm,the modal frequency of the steering column ⩾45 Hz,and the modal frequency of the CCB⩾35Hz ).The crossbeam of Scheme 2 weighs 6.3kg. ,achievinga 30% weight reduction compared to the steel scheme (9.0kg) ).Scheme 2 successfully passes component performance tests and 8,500km vehicle durability testson roughroads,fully meeting the design requirements.
