Title: An Empirical Study on the Overseas Reception of Chinese Internet Literature: Based on a Review Database

Abstract: Although Chinese Internet literature has become a new highlight in the dissemination of Chinese culture, the reception analyses are scant and lagging. Building a Review Database of Translated Internet Literature and investigating online reviews by digital humanities techniques can access the overseas reception of Internet literature. Chinese Internet literature shows distinct genre-based differences in their popularity overseas. BL translations are highly favored by overseas audiences due to their unique emotional narratives and Chinese cultural elements. The overseas reception of translated Internet literature is characterized by emotional, community and economic factors. Emotion-oriented translation serves as a creative pathway for cross-cultural exchange and integration, while multimodal and transmedia translation enables Chinese Internet literature to achieve a multidimensional and comprehensive dissemination on a global scale. The study proposes four insights for improving the quality and efficiency of the English translation and dissemination of Chinese Internet literature and explores future development trends from multiple perspectives, aiming to provide new ideas for the “going out” of Chinese culture and to promote the overseas communication of Chinese culture in the digital age.
