Abstract : 14C isthe nuclidethatcontributes the most tothepublicradiation doseinthegaseous efluent of nuclear powerplants.Due to the cumulative effect of radiation dose of 14C on the surrounding environment and organisms during the long-term operation of nuclear facilities,the problem of 14C treatmentisurgent.Compared with traditional treatment methods,itisanatractive solution tocarryoutresearch on 14C isotope separation technology,separate and enrich 14C emitted from nuclear power plants and further realize resource utilization.In this paper,the production and release pathways of 14C in nuclear power plantsare briefly described,and the measures to reduce the production and emission of 14C are compared and analyzed.The research status of 14C isotope separation technology is discussed.The future development trend is prospectedso as to provide support for solving the problem of 14C emission and its resource utilization.
