Abstract:【Objective】Thisstudy quantitativelyassessed the wintering habitat suitability for theRed-crownedcrane (Grus japonensis)inthecore areaofYancheng NationalNatureReserve,JiangsuProvince,and identified keyfactors influencing habitatselection.Theresultsprovideascientificbasis for ecologicalrestorationandsustainable management of crane habitats.【Method】Utilizing the MaxEnt(MaximumEntropy)model integrated withGIS technology,habitat suitability wasevaluatedbasedonfivekeyenvironmentalfactors.Thecumulativecontributionofeachfactorwas analyzed.【Result】Habitat suitability was predominantlydeterminedby habitat typeand proximity to water.The primary environmental factors influencingcranedistributionwere distance towater,distance to Suaedasalsa,distanceto Spartinaalterniflora,distance to Phragmites australis,anddistance to bare mudflats,colectivelycontributing 92.5% : The most suitable ( 1043.82hm2 , 7.58% of total area)and highly suitable( 1 674.09hm2 , 12.13% )zoneswere primarily located in the northwestern and southwestern sectors.The invasive s .alterniflora posesasignificant threatto crane habitat selection and food resource acquisition.In contrast,human disturbances had minimal impacton habitat suitability within the corearea.【Conclusion】Enhancing habitat suitabilityfor theRed-crowned crane necessitates focused protectionofwatersources,restorationofnative vegetation,andeffectivecontrolofSpartinaalterniflorainvasion
inthe core area of YanchengNational Nature Reserve.
