Exploration on the Relationship Between the Microbiota-Metabolism-lmmune Axis and Obesity Based on the “Qi Circles in the Body” Theory

Abstract：Traditional Chinese medicine（TCM）holds that obesity results fromthe dysfunction of the spleen-earth systeminthe middle energizer，failure ofthe mediating mechanisms ofthe four wheels to maintain circulation，sinking of waterand wood elements，and the accumulation of phlegm-dampness-turbid-fat throughout the body.Thus， regulating qi movement enables early prevention and treatment of obesity.Modern medicineconsiders the microbiotametabolism-immune axis a complex network mechanism involved in the development and progression of obesity，and the preventiveregulationforitrepresentsanew approachtoobesity diagnosisand treatment.Thisarticle takes the relationshipamong the TCMtheoryof "qi circles inthe body，"the microbiota-metabolism-immune axis，and obesity asa starting point.Basedon existing research，it explores thepotential rolesof qi movementand themicrobiotametabolism-immune axis in thepathogenesis of obesity.Itproposes thatthediagnosis and treatment of obesityshould emphasize fortifying theearth and strengthening the middle（i.e.，the spleen-stomach system）to maintainthe normal functioning of the microbiota-metabolism-immuneaxis，thereby improving overallqi transformation functionand achievig weight loss effcts.This perspective aims to provideareference for TCMsyndrome differentiation and treatmentofobesityand to suggestnew research directions for expanding theconnotationof the"qicireles inthe body" theory.
