Research Progress，Hotspot and Prospect of International Virtual Sports Based on WOS

Abstract： Within the framework of China’s Digital Strategy， modern technologies such as virtual reality and computer simulation have accelerated their integration with the sports industry. This has led to the rapid emergence of the virtual sports sector， which has become a burgeoning area of interest in sports research. To advance the study of virtual sports within China， this paper employs the Web of Science core database for bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer， complemented by content analysis to elucidate the concepts，research foci，and theoretical methodologies associated with virtual sports. Key findings include： （1） Since 2O08，virtual sports research has progressed through an initial phase of development into a period of growth， experiencing a significant acceleration in 2019. During this time， a prominent research community centered around scholars like Kulpa and Myer has emerged，characterized by its interdisciplinary nature; （2） Research on virtual sports predominantly centers on its applications in athletic training，rehabilitation and health promotion， user experience，and influencing factors.A notable shift from a technology-centric to a human-centric approach is observed; （3） Future research directions may explore smart sports environments，legal and ethical considerations in virtual sports， negative user experiences， and theoretically grounded analyses with societal implications.
