The Value and Mission of Physical Education in Building a Strong Educational Nation

Abstract： Building a strong education system is a foundational project for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and a historical mission bestowed upon Chinese education in the new era. The “Outline for Building a Strong Education System （2024-2035）” has laid out a grand blueprint for thedevelopment of education， with the integrated development of moral， intellectual， physical， aesthetic，and labor education （"five educations”）playing a crucial role.In this context， it is imperative to delve into how physical education can serve the construction of a strong education system. This paper focuses on the reshaping of physical education values in the context of educational development， the new missions of physical education in advancing the construction of a strong education system，and the new opportunities and challenges faced by physical education. It explores how to transcend stereotypes in physical education values， reposition the value of physical education， and achieve the new missions of physical education through the collaborative efforts of the government， schools， society， and families. The aim is to provide systematic support from the field of physical education for the construction of a strong education system and to promote disciplinary exploration in the practice ofbuilding a strong education system.
