Research on Short-term Training in Library Science in Guangdong during the Republic of China Period

Abstract：This paper systematically reviews the establishment of short-term training programs in library science duringthe Republic of China period，and reviews the attempts at short-term education in library science in the context of insufficient profesional educational institutions and a shortage of talents.Basedon a macroscopic examination， this paperfurther takes the short-term training of library science in Guangdongasthe observation point，uses the Report （Issue 1）of the Library Administrator Training Institute of the Education Commission of Guangdong Province andtheReport ofthe Library Education Personnel Training Classof Guangdong Province as research objects，accompanied by texts such as memoirs and legal regulations.This paper sorts out the reasons for the establishment of two short-term trainings，thecomposition of students，and teaching arrangements.It examines theactual processof shortterm training in library science in Guangdong during the Republic of China period，reflects on the problems existing in such short-term education，andaims toadd more historical details tothecenturylong educationof libraryscience.
