Clinical Observation on the Treatment of Acute Lumbar Intervertebral Disc Herniation with Massage Combined with Kinesiology Tape

【Abstract】Objective：To explore the clinical efficacyof massagecombined with kinesiology tape in the treatment of acutelumbar discherniation（ALDH）and to provideadiagnosis and treatmentplan for clinical practice.Methods： 50 patients with ALDH who were treated at Beihai Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2O21 to January 2024 were selectedforthe studyand randomly divided into two groups.Thecontrol group was treated with massage alone and the observation group was treated with kinesiologytape in combination with the massage ofthecontrol group. The changes of lumbar pain- Visual Analogue Scale（VAS），lumbarfunction-disability index （SCODI），and lumbar jointrange of motion-forward flexion and backward extension range of motion（ROM）ofthe lumbar spine were compared between the two groups before and after treatment.Results：The total efectiverate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group （ P<0.05 ）. In terms of VAS score and SCODI score，the VAS and SCODI scores of both groups decreased （ P<0.05 ），but the improvement in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group （ P<0.05 ），and the VAS and SCODI scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group （ P<0.05 ）.In terms of ROM，both groups improved compared with that before treatment （ P<0 ： 05），and the observation group was higher than the control group （ P<0.05 ）. Conclusion：Massage combined with kinesiology tape can more efectivelyrelieve pain，improve lumbar function and enhance the mobilityof lumbar joints.
