Clinical efficacy of acupoint application in the intervention of periarthritis of shoulder：a Meta-analysis

Abstract  Objective：Systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy of acupoint application intervention in scapulohumeral periarthritis.Methods：Randomized controlled trials（RCTs） on the clinical efficacy of acupoint application intervention in scapulohumeral periarthritis were systematically searched from CNKI，WanFang Database，VIP，CBM，PubMed，the Cochrane Library，EMbase，EBSCO.The retrieval time was from the inception to September 2022.The included literature was evaluated for quality and data extraction，and Meta-analysis was conducted using RevMan 5.4 and StataSE 16.0 software.Results：9 articles were included，with a sample size of 746 cases.The Meta-analysis results showed that the total effective rate of the acupoint application group（OR=4.71，95%CI 2.66-8.35，P<0.01），VAS（MD=―1.02，95%CI ―1.16-―0.88，P<0.01），Constant-Murley Scale（CMS）score（MD=6.61，95%CI 5.55-7.67，P<0.01），and ADL（MD=4.17，95%CI 2.94-5.40，P<0.01） were all better than the control group.Conclusion：Current evidence suggests that acupoint application can effectively intervene in the clinical efficacy of shoulder periarthritis，improve patient′s pain，shoulder joint function，and self-care ability.However，due to limitations in the quality of included literature，sample size，and research centers，high-quality，multicenter randomized controlled trials are still needed for further validation.
