Research progress of titanium-based materials used for anode modification of lithium-sulfur batteries

Abstract: Lithium-sulfur batteries have been regarded as the next generation rechargeable bateries beyound lithium-ion bateries because of their high specific capacity,high energy density and low cost. The cycle life of the battery is poor due to the shuttle effect of the reaction product soluble polysulfides and the volume expansion of the sulfur electrode during cycling.To solve the problems in lithium-sulfur batteries, researchers have developed a variety of nanostructured metallic materials. This paper summarized the uses of titanium element and titanium-based compounds (including titanium-based oxides, titanium-based sulfides and titanium-based nitrides) to form strong chemical bonds and improve the comprehensive performance of lithium-sulfur batteries through the structural design of metalic matrix composites.
