Antifriction performances of low temperature ion sulfide coatings of GCr15 steel

Abstract: The friction and wear properties of GCr15 steel with diferent surface treatments were studied and analyzed by optical microscope, scanning electron microscope and UMT friction and wear testing machine. The results show that compared with the carbonitriding treated GCr15 steel,the carbonitriding and low-temperature sulfurizing treated GCr15 steel surface has formed a sulfurizing layer dominated by FeS,and the friction coefficient and volume wear rate are significantly reduced compared with the untreated samples, which can significantly improve the anti-scratch and anti-seizure capabilities of the bearing material surface, thereby prolonging the service life of the bearing parts. Through the analysis of the friction and wear surface morphology,the wear mechanism is abrasive wear and adhesive wear.
