Abstract:Toevaluate the potential injury risks of mechanical massage seats during vehicle rear-end collsions, this study employed the Hybrid Ill50th percentile male dummy model toconduct comparative crash simulations between conventional automotive seatsand mechanical mas-sage seats, with particular focusonanalyzing occupant injuries tothehead, neck, chest, and lumbar spine.Theresults showed that when using the 3ms resultantaccelerationasthechestinjurycriterion, thevalues formechanical massgeseatsand conventional seatsare 26.6g and 27.7g. respectively, bothmeetingrequirements;for thenormalized neck injurycriterion (204号 (Nij) ,conventionalseatoccupantsexceedes thethresholdof1,indicatingsignificantinjuryrisk,whilemechanical massage seat occupants demonstrates excellent performance across all neck injury metrics with an value of 0.51,providing better protection;mechanical massage seats show greateradvantages in reducing head injuryrisk, with lower HIC values foroccupants;regarding lumbar injuries, the maximum force onconventional seat occupants is 1670N compared to 1800N for mechanical massage seat occupants, with the maximum LIC values being 4.32and 3.67,respectively,both meetingsafetystandardsand ensuring passengersafety. Thisresearch verifies the safetyand reliabilityof mechanical massage seats inrear-endcollsions,providing important reference value for future development and widespread application of mechanical massage seats.
