Abstract:This studytraces thedevelopment of quantitative research in Chinese journalismand communication studies,examiningitsestablishmentasadominantresearchparadigmanditsmethodologicalevolution.Thearticlereviews foundationalstudiessuchas the "Beijing Survey"andtheirrole inpromotingthequantitativeresearch paradigm.Italso analyzesthreemajoracademicdebates suroundingtherelationship betweenquantitativeandcriticalresearch,quantitative and qualitativemethods,aswellas bigdataandsmalldata.Byanalyzingquantitative research papers published n2024 in four leading Chinese journals—Journalism& Communication Research,Chinese Journal of Journalism& Communication,Modem Communication,andJournalismUniversity—thisstudysummarizes thelatest trends indata sources,research methods,andanalyticaltechniques.Italsoidentifiesongoingchallnges,including insufficientdata representativenes,limitedmethodologicaldiversityandalackoftheoreticaldepth.Thestudyarguesthatwhilethe quantitative research paradigm has become a significant academic tradition in Chinese jourmalismand communication studies,future developmentshouldemphasize the standardizationandrepresentativenessofdatacolection,enhance researchreproducibilityandverifiabilityfoster methodologicalintegration,and promotedeeperdialoguesbetween quantitativeresearchandtheoretical construction.Theseeffortswillbetteralign withtheacademicdemandsof the era of computational social science and intelligent communication.

一、中国新闻与传播学定量研究的源头与进路
