Correspondence:LiuJinsong,Email:jinsong0719@wmu.edu.cn [Abstract]Zirconiaimplantsareconsideredaspromising alternatives to titanium implants becauseof their tooth-like colorthatcansiulatetheappearanceofnaturalteeth,ppropriate mechanical properties,andbiocompatibilitywhichreduceperi-implantinflmmatoryreactions.However,anuntreatedzirconiasurfaceisbioinert,whichresultsinliitedosseointegrationcompared withtitanium.Considering thatsurfacecharacteristicsplayanessentialrole intheadsorptionof protein,adesionproiferationandderentiationofoseogenesis-reatedcels,umroussuracemodiicatioseapplied to enhancethesurface bioactivityofzirconia.Inthisreview,various surfacemodificationsof zirconia implantsand their effcts onosseointegration werecomprehensivelysummarized.Meanwhile,theadvantagesand disadvantagesof several surface modifications were discussed.
