Status quo and influencing factors of life space in elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis complicated by sarcopenia

Abstract Objective:To investigate the status quo of life space in elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis complicated by sarcopenia and analyze its influencing factors.Methods:A total of 189 elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis complicated by sarcopenia who were admitted to the orthopedic department of a tertiary grade A hospital in Zhengzhou were selected as the research subjects by convenience sampling from February 2023 to November 2023.A general information questionnaire,Chinese version of the Life Space Assessment,Lubben Social Network Scale⁃6,Barthel Index,and Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory⁃20 were used for investigation.Results:The total score of the Chinese version of the Life Space Assessment in elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis complicated by sarcopenia was (53.72±10.00) points,and gender,age,living conditions,pain level,history of falls in the past year,self⁃care ability,social isolation,and fatigue were the influencing factors of living space(P<0.05).Conclusions:The living space level of elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis complicated by sarcopenia is relatively low.Medical staff should prioritize the assessment of the living space status of elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis complicated by sarcopenia, and implement evidence⁃based intervention measures based on their influencing factors.
