Translation and validation of the Competency of Nursing Process Questionnaire

Abstract  Objective：To translation the Competency of Nursing Process Questionnaire（CNPQ） into Chinese and to test its reliability and validity.Methods：The English version original scale was translated，translated back，and cross⁃cultural adjusted according to the Brislin translation model，and a Chinese version of CNPQ was developed through pretesting.650 nurses were selected to test its reliability and validity.Results：The Chinese version of CNPQ exploratory factor analysis extracted 5 common factors and included 21 items，and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 68.96%.The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the 5 factors model fit well.The content validity of the scale level was 0.95，the Cronbach's α coefficient of the total scale was 0.978，the Cronbach's α coefficient of each dimension was 0.898⁃0.956，and the split⁃half reliability was 0.951；the retest reliability after 2 week was 0.783.Conclusion：The Chinese version of CNPQ has good reliability and validity，and can be used to measure the competency of nursing process of clinical nurses in China.
