Status quo and influencing factors of geriatric nursing ability of 9 767 clinical nurses in Chongqing

Abstract  Objective：To investigate the status quo of clinical nurses' geriatric nursing ability in Chongqing and analyze its influencing factors， so as to provide a basis for targeted geriatric nursing professional nurses training in Chongqing and improving geriatric medical and nursing services.Methods：The geriatric nursing ability of 9 767 clinical nurses in secondary hospitals and above in Chongqing was investigated by stratified random sampling and analyzed its influencing factors.Results：The total score of geriatric nursing ability of 9 676 clinical nurses was （2.29±0.81）， among which professional literacy score was the highest （2.39±0.69），followed by professional practice （2.34±0.82） and professional development （2.14±0.90）.Regression analysis showed that age，department， nursing age，title，hospital grade， hospital nature and so on were the influencing factors of clinical nurses' geriatric nursing ability （P<0.01）.Conclusion：The elderly nursing ability of clinical nurses in Chongqing is at a lower middle level and is affected by many factors.Chongqing should start the training of geriatric professional nurses as soon as possible，focusing on the overall improvement of nurses' elderly nursing ability，focusing on strengthening the training of professional practice ability，and paying attention to the cultivation of professional development ability.
