Effects of Mixotrophy on Intracellular Metabolite of Microalgaes in Freshwater

Abstract:Toinvestigate thediferencesingrowthandintracelular metaboliteaccumulationofMychonastes@fer(M.afer) underariousconditions,theeconomicallyimportantalgal species Chlorellsorokiniana(C.sorokiniana)inaquaculture wasusedasacontrol,the growth,organiccarbon sources,pigmentcompositionand content,antioxidantcapacity,and fatyacid composition of thetwo microalgaes wereevaluated under both autotrophic and mixotrophicconditions.The results show that both M .afer and C .sorokiniana exhibit accelerated growth in mixotrophic conditions.M. afer demonstrates an elevated pigment content and antioxidant capacity,showing a 504% increase in chlorophyll a,a 149% increase inchlorophyll b ,and an 88% increase in carotenoid content compared to autotrophic conditions,while the pigment content and antioxidant capacity of C .sorokiniana decrease compared to autotrophic conditions. The proportion of saturated fatty acids and monounsaturated fatty acids in M .afer also increase considerably,and the content of nervonic acid C24:1 increases by 145% . The two microalgaes exhibit significant differences in their synergistic metabolic mechanisms of light energyandorganic carbonsources.Under mixotrophicconditions,M.aferdemonstrates higher productionrates and greater contents of active substances.
