Research Progress on Sanguisorbae Radix and Predictive Analysis of Its Quality Markers

Abstract:Sanguisorbae Radix exhibits diversepharmacological effects,including hemostatic,antibacterial,antiinflammatory,antioxidant,andantitumoractivities.Itisclinicallyused to treat hemorrhagicdisorders,burns,scalds, and enteritis.Its primarychemicalconstituents encompass tannins,triterpenoids,flavonoids,lignans,andorganic acids.This review systematically summarizes thechemical composition and pharmacological effects of Sanguisorbae Radix.Basedon the QualityMarker(Q-marker)theory of traditional Chinese medicine,it predicts potential Q-markers for Sanguisorbae Radix by evaluating seven key aspects:(1) chemicalcomposition and procesing methods,(2)plant phylogenetics,(3)therapeutic functions,(4) traditional eficacy and properties,(5)compatibility environments, (6) measurability,and(7)novel pharmacologicaleffects.Theanalysis suggests thattannins(galicacid,elagic acid, methyl gallate, procyanidins,and 3, 3′ , 4′ 1 o -trimethyl ellagic acid),triterpenoids(ziyglycoside I and I), flavonoids (catechin,quercetin,and kaempferol),and organic acids((ferulicacid)may serve as robust Q-markers for Sanguisorbae Radix.These findings provide a theoretical foundation for refining its quality evaluation system.
