Abstract：Wang Hanxi，hailing from Wuyuan Countyin Huizhou，wasa Huizhou merchant inmodern times who "abandoned oficialdom for commerce" and engaged in the news publishing industry. During the period when Wang Hanxi was in charge of the Sinwen Pao，he took "speaking for the people and opening the minds of the people" as his philosophy of running the newspaper，and "economic independence，no party and no bias" as his aim of running the newspaper，reflecting his familyand nationalsentiments froma traditional intelectual toamodern newspaper businessman. After Wang Hanxi took over the Sinwen Pao，he redefined the newspaper's audience and market positioning ofthe publication.He strengthened the newspaper's corporate organizationand news network，adopted aseries of businessinitiatives such as strengthening the innovationof production tools and the stockpilingof production materials.Heactivelyrecruitedtalents，and improved employee benefits，which made the Sinwen Pao become thelargestseling and most widely-accessed Chinese newspaper in moderm China.This reflects the innovative spirit and enterprising consciousness of Huizhou merchants.
