A Comparative Study of Volitional Mental Verbs in Chinese and Spanish

—Exemplified by Zhu （祝）/Xuwang （希望） and Esperar/Desear

Abstract：Chineseand Spanishare typologicalldistinctlanguages.Acontrastiveanalysisof mentalverbsintheselanguagesnot onlyenrichestheoreticalresearchnmentalverbsinboth，utalsoprovidesisightsandreferencsforteaching Spanishasforeign language in China.The study focuses on the Chinese volitional mental verbs zhu （ ）， xiwang （希望），and their Spanish counterparts esperarand desear.Through corpussamplingandcomparativeanalysis，weexaminetheirsemantic，syntactic，and pragmaticdimensions.Thefindingsrevealthatwhilezhu/xuwangandesperar/desearsharecertainsimilarities，signicantdiferenespersistboth cross-linguistically（etweenCinseandSpanish）andintralinguistically（withinachlanguage）erefore，inSpanishoeignlanguageteacingitisearytoullosidrancamaial，agticifrenedilaritsn and Chinese，and correctly acquire vocabulary.
