Treatment of Senile Pruritus Based on the Theory of "All Pain， Itching，and Soresare Ascribed to the Heart"

Abstract：Senile pruritus （SP） is a common skin disease in the elderly，characterized by paroxysmal skin itching withoutobvious primary lesions.Basedon the theory from theHuang DiNeiJing（The Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic） that "all pain，itching，and sores are ascribed to the heart，"and combined with Director CHEN Xinsheng's clinical experience，thisstudy deeply explores the pathogenesisand treatment strategies for SP.Byanalyzing the heart's functions in governing fire，bloodvessels，andspirit，itis found thattheimpairmentofthe heart'sphysiological functions is the etiologyand pathogenesisofSP.Excessiveheartfireand imbalancebetween waterandfireare the initial factors，insuficientheartbloodorblood stasisareimportantdevelopmentalfactors，anddisturbanceofthespirit is the keylink.Clinicaly，diffrent treatment methodssuchas nourishing yinand reducing fire，nourishing yinand blood， promotig blood circulation and unblocking vessls，and calmingthe heart and relieving itching are adopted according to diferent syndromes.Corresponding prescriptionsare used with modifications based on syndrome differentiation， supported by case studies.
